The Centre for Environmental and Sustainability Research of the Fundação da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (CENSE FFCT-UNL) is a research centre devoted to the pursuit of interdisciplinary research in environmental sciences and engineering, focusing on the interaction between human and ecological systems to promote sustainable development.
The Ecological Economics and Environmental Management group is a research unit of CENSE that is particularly dedicated to the development of interdisciplinary work, integrating environmental and socio-economic aspects. Its main areas of expertise are new approaches in the design and implementation of environmental policy instruments, participatory decision-making, sustainability assessment, environmental governance, ecological-economic modelling, and valuation of ES. This group has been involved in numerous EU and national research projects, such as ADVISOR (FP5) (co-ordinator); PIGS (LIFE-ENV); FRAP (FP6), PLEIADeS (FP6), CEECEC (FP7), GoverNat and THEMES (Marie Curie). Ongoing FP7 projects include: PROSUITE, SCALES, RESPONDER and POLICYMIX.
